Georgia’s Story

Georgia moved to North Lake in Year 11 from the private system and immediately felt at home. She was a Rotary Club of Booragoon Endeavour Scholarship winner in 2014.

Her excellent work continued into Year 12 and at the  2015 Valedictory she was named campus dux after winning the Stage 3 subject awards for Mathematics, Mathematic Specialist, Physics and Chemistry. She was also awarded a School Curriculum and Standards Authority Certificate of Commendation.

However for Georgia it was not about awards – she felt North Lake opened her up to new ways of learning and a belief that what she was doing mattered. “When I came to North Lake I saw how much my work meant to other people and it gave me the drive,” she said, “I saw the difference, I saw that there was more than one path and that made all the difference. At North Lake I had a sense of having my own identity – it was such a different place to be and a safe place for me.”
