The Defence Work Experience Program provides young people the opportunity to gain exposure to the jobs available within the Australian Defence Force and the Department of Defence.

The program is aimed at high school and tertiary students aged 15 years and over.  It encourages students to consider career pathways in Defence.

Students who are accepted into the program will undertake one to five days of unpaid work experience at Defence establishments in all Australian states and territories.

Placements occur within the Australian Defence Force and Australian Public Service and are designed to be meaningful activity-based learning opportunities inclusive of exposure to military locations and assets.

In Western Australia, the program has included visits to HMAS Stirling for Navy activities, Irwin Barracks for Army activities and RAAF Base Pearce for Air Force activities.

Please visit the Defence website.  It enables you to select the state and advertises the work experience placements. Currently there are seven advertised from WA.
