Inspiring students rewarded

The 2019 Rotary Club of Booragoon endeavour scholarships were presented during a dinner function at Dome Deep Water Point on Tuesday 15 October. This year’s winners were Year 11s Fizullah, Diana, Michael, Ayesha and Kaleab along with Allawyn from Fremantle Fast Track.

The students mixed with club members during dinner and took part in club meeting activities. Michael’s dad was a surprised winner of the heads and tails game.

Each of the scholarship winners addressed the gathering telling us a little about their background, North Lake experience and aspirations for the future. Club member John Feary put it best when he said: “Hearing from the students makes our hearts swell.”

Club members were pleased to hear of the exploits of some past endeavour scholarship winners and particularly pleased to enjoy the company of 2016 winner Berihu who attended as the guest of his brother Kaleab.

There was a surprise for the students after they had all received certificates – they learned how to play a frog.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks again to the Rotary Club of Booragoon for making this such a great partnership.
