STUDENT SERVICES North Lake Senior Campus has a large experienced Student Support Team dedicated to the enhancement of the individual student. The team is committed to working with students to help solve any problems that interfere with learning, whether academic, family, financial, personal or medical. Student Support Services Team:
Student support services available: University/TAFE and careers advice are available throughout the year in the well resourced Student Learning Centre. A dedicated Student Services Team which provides rapid assistance to students experiencing difficulties or problems. The team consists of a manager, campus psychologist, a community nurse, course and career advisor, learning skills advisor, student co-ordinators and a team of student advisors. Each student is part of a small and cohesive Focus Group (approx 15 students) which is attached to a key teacher mentor. These groups meet twice a week throughout the year to provide necessary support, information and activities. Transition Program Campus Psychologist - Linda Kwok Linda works with the campus community to support students and optimise their learning outcomes. They can help with problem solving in a wide range of issues such as: social, emotional, family, relationships, barriers to learning, motivation, learning difficulties, stress reduction and low confidence. Community Nurse - Jeff Christie Health has been described as a "state of complete physical, mental, social and spiritual well being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." Jeff is on campus to serve in any of the above four areas. Should an issue be beyond his capabilities, then he is able to refer a student to an appropriate agency. Course & Careers Advisors - Peter Hamilton & Julianne Simmons Peter and Julianne specialise in career counselling, further education information and assist students with their subject selections. They is available to assist students who may need to discuss problems they are having with their subject choices. You can find Peter or Julianne in the Learning Centre. Overseas Student Co-ordinator - Louise Marold Louise is committed to ensuring the welfare of overseas students, through continous liaison between home stay, school and parents. Learning Skills Advisor - Les Everett Les assists students in the areas of time management, learning and study strategies, exam preparation and techniques and assignment writing. Information and assistance is provided through lectures, seminars and individual appointments. Mike and Joe ensure that the pastoral care of all students. Social activities are also organised by them. Student Advisors assist students in choosing programmes of study leading to employment, TAFE or University entry.
