Niluka’s Story

Niluka, North Lake Senior Campus’ co-dux for 2013, was home-schooled through primary school and spent the first three years of secondary education at the Perth Waldorf School in Bibra Lake.

She was happy and successful at Perth Waldorf but the wish to pursue a conventional pathway to university led her to North Lake.

“It was daunting at first when I came to North Lake and it took a little while to adapt to a different way of learning,” Niluka said.

“I think relationships are a pretty key thing at school and at North Lake you get to really know the teachers. I had a purpose and was working towards something and I was able to do that without distractions and without a strong peer group thing going on.”

Niluka won the subject awards in English Literature and Human Biology and is studying Linguistics at UWA.
