Year 11 student Tayla was invited by Mark McGowan, the premier of Western Australia, to a Remembrance Day event at Government House on Sunday 11 November.
Tayla is a member of the Australian Navy Cadets and represented the TS Cockburn Cadet Unit at the Remembrance Day event in Kings Park in the morning. Afterwards, she, another cadet and a staff member were invited to Government House.

They met with Mr McGowan and a good time was had by all. Tayla has been a member of TS Cockburn Cadet Unit since 2018 and thinks it’s fantastic and wonders why she didn’t join earlier. It has improved her leadership skills and wellbeing, as cadets are just expected to do what they have to do and there is no space to be anxious.
Sunday, 11 November 2018 marked the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914–18).
