Achievement celebrated

From the opening music to the refreshments in the library, the achievement ceremony for IEC 3.1 and 3.2 was inspirational, entertaining, funny and delicious.

With MCs Ruqia and Jemal in control, the event ran smoothly and there were many highlights. Michael and Chloe performed You Raise Me Up brilliantly with Michael’s introduction to the song hitting the right notes on this special occasion. An exciting dance performance by Shane Ann brought cheers from the crowd.

Special achievers were recognised with IEC Co-ordinator Sean Bruce-Cullen, Head of Maths and Science Bob Woodruff and our Principal Mary Margetts presenting the following awards – English: Ruqia Ahmadi and Christofle Sangkanparan; HASS: Marius Turquois; Maths: Michael Ngin Deih Tung; Science: Kim Thanh (Mark) Huynh and endeavour awards were presented to Kaleab Awedow and Yahui (Diana) Hu.

L Joshua and Diana spoke on behalf of the two classes and reminded us of just how far they had come.

Our guest speaker Yama Ahmadyar came from war-torn Afghanistan and had little English when he started his journey at North Lake’s IEC. He reminded us all that anything is possible and his own story is proof of that.
