IEC 3-2 have been learning all about physics. They have explored Newton’s Laws of Motion and looked at the principles of force, speed and acceleration.
They were set a challenge to design and build a simple vehicle that was able to propel itself along using only the spring force tension of a ‘mouse trap’.
They were shown videos of some mouse trap designs prior but were allowed to modify their own vehicles to either increase the speed or the distance in which the vehicle travelled.
All students rose to the challenge and with a little help they all successfully made a vehicle that moved.
The vehicles were tested in front of an appreciative crowd in the gym.
Their next task was to use their English skills and scientific language to write a report about their vehicles and the challenges they faced.
